Finding out your house has termites can seem like a nightmare.Fortunately, there are ways of preventing this situation from occurring, or at least from becoming really serious. The first step in treating for termites is to perform a thorough inspection of your property at least twice a year. This way, if there is any infestation, you will be able to catch it early before the damage caused becomes too severe. Inspecting your property can also identify potentially risky areas that could attract termites. You should remove any timber from around the house and if you must have wooden structures near to your home try and use wood that is less attractive to termites, such as cedar, juniper and redwood. Also avoid having any kind of standing water or moist soil near to your house and when watering the garden, keep the water well away from your home.Treating for termites as a preventative measure can prevent serious damage to your home and costly extermination bills.
